Thermowells are precision machined metallic and non-metallic housings used to protect temperature sensing devices like thermocouples, thermistors and bimetal thermometers from harsh process conditions such as excessive pressure, high velocity flow and corrosion. They increase the longevity of the sensor, allow sensor replacement without interrupting the process, and reduce the chances of contamination.

Thermowells designed for high pressure applications are typically machined from bar stock to ensure integrity. Smaller thermowells for use in low pressure environments may be constructed from tubing with one end welded closed.

  • All our thermowells are subjected to a hydrostatic pressure test before dispatch.
  • All male threads are cut on CNC turning centres and held to a standard tolerance.
